Police pursuit starts with expired tags

Ceres Police Officer Eric Souza attempted to pull over the driver of a Toyota Camry for expired registration tags on Wednesday morning, Feb. 9 but the driver led him on a short chase instead.

Officer Souza was on patrol at 9:40 a.m. in the area of Herndon and River roads when he attempted to stop driver Randon Foreman, 27, of Modesto, with emergency lights and siren. Foreman accelerated to lead the officer on a short pursuit which ended in the 1400 block of Orlando Drive. Foreman was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on felony charges of evading a police officer in a vehicle and driving on a suspended license, as well as a probation violation.
