Police seek police impersonator
Ceres Cop Car

Ceres Police Department is urging the public to help it find the driver of a vehicle involved in a suspicious incident of police impersonation on Thursday evening.

Ceres Police Department Sgt. Jose Berber said a 29-year-old Ceres female driver called 9-1-1 at 11 p.m. as someone was posing as a police officer and trying to pull her car over. She reported that a charcoal gray Chevy sedan with tinted windows was behind her and activated red and blue lights on the dash in an apparent attempt to pull her over on Morgan Road at Whitmore Avenue. She was skeptical that it was a real police car because she did not hear a siren and the lights were not flashing lights. The woman got scared and called police and was instructed to drive toward the Ceres Police Station. By the time officers found her the Chevy sedan had disappeared.

Ceres Police contacted neighboring police agencies to see about the possibility of an unmarked car in Ceres trying to make a traffic stop but found none.

The department is asking anyone with information regarding the vehicle to contact them at 538-5713.
