Police are seeking the public's assistance in identifying and locating the man who robbed the Payless Shoe Source at 1366 Hatch Road on April 29.

The suspect, described as a white man wearing a white long sleeve shirt and blue jeans, walked into the store at 3:23 p.m., and asked the clerk for change while holding cash in hand. The clerk said the man acted as if he held a gun in his other hand as he had a blue denim jacket over his right forearm and hand. When the clerk said that she could not give him change he walked around the counter and ordered the clerk to open the register drawer and he told her he was robbing her. The suspect assured the clerk that he wouldn't harm her if she stayed calm. The clerk handed the suspect $136 in cash and some change. He then left the store on foot in a southern direction.

The suspect was heavy set, in his 50's with gray hair, weighing approximately 300 pounds. She saw a possible second suspect acting as a lookout and described him as a Hispanic man in his 40's, 5-foot-5, 160 pounds wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans, goatee and glasses.

Police are continuing to investigate. Anyone with information regarding the robbery or the suspect may remain anonymous and is encouraged to contact the Ceres Police Department Tip Hotline at 538-5740; or call Detective Bryan Ferreira at 538-5616.
