Police traffic stop for expired tag leads to warrant arrest

A Modesto man driving in Ceres was pulled over by police for his expired license registration tag and was arrested once it was known he had a warrant for his arrest.

Ceres Police Officer Christian Diaz was on patrol in the area of Hatch and Mitchell roads at approximately 11:23 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4 when he spotted the expired tag on a Chevrolet Silverado pickup. Officer Diaz conducted a traffic enforcement stop and learned that driver Rafael Cervantes Ramos, 29, of Modesto had a felony arrest warrant issued by the Sheriff’s Office for fraud. The warrant was confirmed and Ramos was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
