A 33-year-old Modesto man who was accused of driving recklessly and later tried to run from police was arrested Wednesday afternoon.
Police were called at approximately 4:10 p.m. about a reckless driver in the Voyager’s Cove Mobile Home Park parking lot in the 2800 block of Hatch Road. Ceres Police Sgt. Matthew Vierra spotted a vehicle matching the description of the reported gray Ford Expedition near Hatch Road and Richland Avenue and initiated a traffic stop, but the driver, Steve Pershe, accelerated. Following a short pursuit, Pershe stopped his SUV and fled on foot until he was apprehended.
Pershe was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of felony evading, reckless driving and obstructing a peace officer.
