Roof work was legitimate but drugs found in car
Ceres Cop Car

Loud noises coming from the roof of an apartment complex at nearly midnight on Wednesday, Sept. 23 led to a call to police on the belief that metal theft was taking place.

Police were called at 11:52 p.m. to the 2300 block of Roeding Road. Two men stated they were repairing the AC unit for the owner. The manager confirmed that he had hired Viecheslav Anichenko, 35, of Ceres, and the other man to do the work. The officer recognized Anichenko from a prior drug arrest, and knew that he was on parole. He searched the car the men arrived in and located 22 grams of heroin along with $2,800 in cash.

Anichenko was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for sale.

The other man was released.
