A 26-year-old Ceres man was arrested Saturday evening after he allegedly drove drunk into a parked car and left the scene.
The crash was reported at 7:49 p.m. in the 1200 block of San Pedro Avenue when a silver Toyota pickup collided with a parked vehicle.
Officer Ochoa was told by a witness that the driver – later identified as Victor Cruz, 26, of Ceres – had walked to the corner of San Pedro Avenue and Morgan Road and was followed by other witnesses. Cruz pulled out and dropped a pistol onto the ground near this corner. One witness stayed with the pistol while other escorted Cruz back to the crash.
Officer Kyle Morris recovered a loaded pistol. A magazine for the pistol was found on Cruz, who had the strong smell of alcoholic on his breath.
At the conclusion of his investigation, Cruz was placed under arrest for DUI, possession of a loaded concealed firearm and hit and run.
