Ceres Police say four people who committed robbery of shoes at WSS Shoes at 1342 E. Hatch Road got away before they could be captured.

The crime took place prior to 4:52 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.

According to Ceres Police Department spokesman Sgt. Greg Yotsuya, three men and a woman entered the shoe store and began trying on shoes in the back of the store. An employee watched the four and was later confronted by one of the subjects who asked him if he “had a problem.” The employee replied that he was just doing his job. Seconds later, one of the men left the store.

A second man attempted to walk out of the store wearing a pair of Jordans he didn’t pay for. When confronted by the employee, the man pulled a knife and told the employee he “wasn’t getting the shoes back.” He swung the knife at the employee who dodged it. The suspect, who was wearing all black clothing and had tattoos on his neck, fled out the door toward McDonalds.

The woman left with another pair of shoes without paying for them but the employees chose not to confront her.

The third man left without merchandise and they all fled west on Hatch in a black-colored car.

Officers checked the area for the suspects but were unable to locate them.
