Kmart was the scene of two shoplifting attempts within back-to-back days last week.

On Friday police were called after Marques Everhart, 21, of Sacramento, attempted to conceal a phone case worth $49.99 in his pocket and try to walk out but was detained. He was cited to appear in court and released at 1:33 p.m.

Chandra Reeves, 40, of Modesto, will answer in court as to the allegation that she tried to steal $202.49 worth of women's clothes from Kmart on Saturday.

Reeves was stopped at the door of the store after she tried wheeling out the merchandise at 4:29 p.m. and when stopped tried flashing a receipt from Office Max. The ruse did not work and police were called.
