Shots fired between vehicles
Ceres Cop Car

Police arrested the driver of a pickup who was allegedly involved in a Friday evening shooting between him and a car following him containing his ex-girlfriend's boyfriend.

Calls to 9-1-1 about shots being fired in the area of Park and Eighth streets came in at 11:49 p.m. Descriptions of the two vehicles were given to dispatchers, one being a dark-colored passenger car and the other a white pickup truck. The driver of the pickup was reportedly firing at other car following it.

Officer Kiashira Ruiz located the pickup at Ninth Street and Standford Avenue. She noted fresh bullet holes in the tailgate and removed a 9mm handgun from the vehicle.

The pickup's driver, Eldis Zepeda, 19, of Newman, was arrested for the reckless discharge of a firearm in the city limits and possession of a concealed loaded weapon.

The other driver had been stopped by Officer Justin Canatsy but denied knowing anything about the shooting.
