A planned marijuana sale gone bad took place in the 2700 block of Dale Avenue Friday evening when 10 pounds worth of marijuana was taken and multiple shots were fired.

Ceres Police dispatchers were called about multiple gunshots at approximately 8:23 p.m. near the Carroll Fowler Elementary School campus. Officers detained three men on the front porch and learned that the suspects and a man shot in the toe had left the scene.

Police were told that the home owner's son and a friend were attempting to sell the marijuana to another man who showed up with another male and went inside the house. Once inside the suspects started taking the marijuana and one of them pulled out a handgun and started shooting at the homeowner's son and his friend. The homeowner was in his backyard when he heard the gunshots so he retrieved a shotgun and went to the front yard. The homeowner saw the suspects shooting at his son so he fired his shotgun at them, striking their car.

The suspects fled in a maroon colored Toyota Corolla. The suspects were described as black male adults and the Corolla should have bullet holes in front driver's side and no driver's side window.

The shooting victim later a man showed up at a local hospital seeking treatment of a gunshot wound to the foot.

Sgt. James Yandell said that the party trying to allegedly sell the marijuana was not charged as there is no evidence.

The homeowner's shotgun was confiscated by police and the incident is under investigation.
