A 24-year-old Modesto resident was cited for misdemeanor reckless driving after he was seen by an officer "spinning donuts" in the dirt lot adjacent to St. Jude's Catholic Church on Mitchell Road on Sunday evening.

Officer Miguel Villalobos was in the area of Moore Road at 5:53 p.m. when he saw a vehicle speeding and joy riding in the vacant lot and several times nearly lost control. The nearby church parking lot contained numerous parked and moving cars and parishioners on foot.

Officer Villalobos stopped the vehicle which was occupied by four males and cited driver
Jon Baker, 24, of Modesto.

Baker apologized for his reckless driving and said he did not mean to cause any issues and was just having fun with his friends.
