Store hit by shoplifters
Ceres Cop Car

The Ceres Walmart store was the scene of two shoplifting incidences on Dec. 23.

The first crime was reported to police at 9:32 p.m. when Cassey Barnes, 34, and Desiree Morton, 51, both of Modesto, were detained by store security for concealing UPC labels of lower priced goods on more expensive items. They paid for these items at the lower UPC label price at a total value of $210.35.

Both were released on citations for shoplifting.

Police were called back to the store a short while later, at 10:10 p.m. when Earnest Eugene III, 19, of Ceres, was detained by store security after he allegedly removing a $39.76 game controller from its display and stuffed it in his back pack. Eugene also had concealed two other items and walked to the register where he only paid for a soda.

Police cited and release Eugene for shoplifting.
