Luis Chavelas Pineda, 31 of Modesto, found out the hard way early Sunday about the lesson of driving after drinking too much. His violation of the vehicle code led to a car stop and then Ceres police taking him to jail.
Pineda was observed driving and failing to obey a traffic law at 1:22 a.m. by Ceres Police Officer Josiah Mardirosian who was patrolling the area of Moffett and Fowler roads. Pineda pulled his Chevrolet Sonic to the curb and was approached by Officer Mardirosian who quickly detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage from inside the vehicle. Pineda also appeared to be under the influence of alcohol so he was administered a series of field sobriety tests which he performed in a manner consistent to someone under the influence.
Pineda was arrested and provided a breath sample that was showed his blood alcohol content was double the legal limit for an adult to drive. Pineda was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
