Suspect carrying meth tries hiding from officer
Ceres Cop Car

A small amount of methamphetamine was located in the pants pocket of a man who appeared to be hiding from a Ceres Police officer on Tuesday morning, Oct 4.

At 10:56 a.m. the officer was westbound on Holm Avenue from Musick Avenue when he spotted Davey Arenas, 42, of Modesto, walking a bike and carrying several bags and backbacks in a lane of traffic. He saw the officer looking at him and tried to run away but was found in a side yard in the 1300 block of Holm Avenue. Asked why he was hiding, Arenas said someone was chasing him. But the officer suspected it was different reasons. Because he was on probation and searchable for drugs, Arenas was searched and found with the meth. He was cited and released for possession of a controlled substance.
