A citizen's report about a suspicious acting man in Mancini Park on River Road last week led an officer to check him out and arrest him for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and probation of violation.

School Resource Officer Steve Carvalho was conducting home visits of truants at 9:21 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22 when he was flagged down by a citizen who reported Jose Ramon Melgoza, 23, of Modesto, in the park. Melgoza told the officer that he had a pocketknife and consented to a search. A hypodermic needle was found on his clothing. Melgoza was handcuffed and found with empty balloons, lighters, aluminum foil with burnt residue, a marijuana pipe and a baggie of methamphetamine in pants.
