A wanted man was captured Friday morning after an employee of the 7-Eleven on Herndon Avenue called police about a suspicious car parked for several hours alongside the building.

Two men were inside the vehicle, the clerk reported at 9:45 a.m. When officers showed up one of the occupants took off running. An officer immediately recognized him as someone they knew had a felony warrant for assault with a deadly weapon.

Ivan Serrano, 30, of Ceres, was chased around the Vito and Leo avenues neighborhood. The suspect was apprehended with the help of a Ceres Police canine deployed.

Serrano was arrested for the warrant and a burglary warrant and charged with resisting arrest.
