Police were unable to determine if the Honda next to a suspect was stolen but they took him to jail for possession of a controlled substance and probation violation.

At 3:31 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14, Officer Matt Berlier approached a man getting out of a Honda missing license plates in the area of Bystrum Road and Eugene Avenue. The car was also missing its ignition and car stereo.

The suspect Francisco Escobar, 43, of Modesto, was searched and found with a small amount of heroin.

The vehicle had not been reported stolen at the time of the arrest, said Ceres Police Department spokesman Lt. Chris Perry.
