Teen arrested after evading police
Ceres Cop Car

A 15-year-old driver was arrested Saturday afternoon after he fled from a Ceres officer and crashed into a parked car.

His 14-year-old passenger was reported as a runaway and was released to his grandparents.

Officer Dirk Nieuwenhuis attempted to stop a silver BMW in the area of Hatch and Herndon at 1:57 p.m. The driver fled east on Hatch Road, kicking off the pursuit which was joined by Officer Kiashira Ruiz. The chase went east on Hatch Road, south on Richland Avenue and east on Evans Road. While speeding on Evans Road the suspect crashed into a parked car but continued for a few more blocks before stopping at Myrtlewood and Forest drives. Both occupants were detained.

The driver was arrested and booked a juvenile hall for fleeing or evading the police, being involved in a hit and run collision and driving without a license.
