Ceres Cop Car

A 14-year-old Ceres boy was arrested Wednesday, May 2 as one of multiple juveniles who participated in a theft at the Senju Asian Massage in the 1500 block of Hatch Road.

Employees called police at 9:18 p.m. and said a group of kids ran in and started yelling at before taking one of the employee's purse and cell phone. On their way out, the suspects took handfuls of complimentary candy from the front desk. Outside of the business, officers located a trail of candy the suspects had dropped and followed the trail east on Giddings. Officers lost the candy trail and returned to the business to continue investigating.

About an hour after officers left, the business called back and asked police to respond with no further details. Officers Alex Ochoa and Pat Dayton arrived and found one of the suspects had returned to get a massage. The manager recognized the juvenile from the video and he was detained. The officers compared the suspect to the video and felt it was a match.

The 14-year- old Ceres boy was booked at Juvenile Hall for robbery.

Ceres Police Department spokesman Lt. James Yandell said the theft became a robbery since force or fear was used when the group rushed the employees.
