Teen found after eluding police in chase
Ceres Cop Car

An unlicensed Manteca teen was arrested Saturday morning after leading police on a chase after initial reports of reckless driving.

At 5:41 a.m. Ceres Police Officer Bays was on an unrelated call in the area of Rose and Whitmore when he spotted a white Nissan Maxima reported to be driven recklessly the previous night in the area. When Bays attempted to stop the driver it led to a pursuit. Officer Bays lost sight of the car as it entered an orchard near Service and Faith Home roads and boiled up a large dust cloud. Officers set up a perimeter and completed a thorough check of the area but were unable to locate the Nissan.

Officer Bays used information obtained during the pursuit to locate the vehicle at 7:24 a.m.
in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 2700 block of Roeding. He went to the unit assigned that space and located the driver from the pursuit. The driver, a 17-year-old Manteca boy, was arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall on charges of recklessly fleeing or evading a police officer, resisting or obstructing a police officer and driving without a license.

Several persons inside the apartment were spoken to and one of them had a warrant for his arrest. Anthony Rubio was arrested for a warrant for a no-bail warrant for a weapons charge issued by the Manteca Police Department. He was booked into jail without incident.
