Two Waterford teenagers were cited for illegal drag racing in the 4500 block of Roeding Road on Friday evening.

An officer who was aware that illegal street racing often takes place in that area made a visit at 11:12 p.m. and saw two small cars lined up side by side to race with a teenager in the middle with his hands up to signal the start of the race. The officer pulled up and initiated his lights as one of the drivers sped off, leaving the other.

Cited were Ivan Esquivel, 18, and Miguel Godinez, 18, as well as a 17-year-old. Police said one was the owner of the car and the other was the driver.
