Customers and employees of In Shape City Health Club at 1760 Mitchell Road are being advised to beware of a rash of car burglaries that have occurred in the parking lot.

The latest window-smash burglaries occurred at 10:19 p.m. on Thursday, July 16. A number of cars were targeted.

"We ask persons to place all valuables, such as wallets, laptops and purses kept out of view while visiting the gym," said Ceres Police Department spokesman Sgt. Jose Berber.

He said that sometimes the damage done to the car and/or the car window is more expensive than the item thieves are trying to steal.

Patrons of In Shape and other commercial areas are urged to promptly call 911 if they see anyone suspicious in a parking lot, such as looking in windows.
