Three Modesto residents were arrested and charged with second-degree burglary after stealing from the Ceres Walmart late Thursday.

At 11:19 p.m., Sgt. Jose Berber had just pulled into the Walmart parking lot near the garden department when he saw Garrett Giddens, 30, and Edward Ferrell, 38, both of Modesto, exit the emergency doors as they carried large boxes and run to an awaiting vehicle driven by Miranda Knapp, 25, also of Modesto.

Sgt. Berber cut off the car near the garden department. Other officers arrived to assist and detain all three occupants.

Inside the vehicle, officers located over $350 worth of merchandise stolen from Walmart.
