Three arrested in mail theft

Three Modesto residents were arrested in the 1600 block of Nadine Avenue on Tuesday, Sept. 1 for allegedly stealing mail from mailboxes.

Someone called 911 at 1:48 a.m. about the suspicious activity at mailboxes on the street and gave police a good description of the vehicle and its occupants. Police arrived on scene and found the vehicle occupied by two men and a female. Inside the vehicle was mail belonging to 16 different addresses in the area. Police arrested Vireak Rithy, 28, Bomy Ke, 35, and Breanne Tice, 24, all of Modesto, on charges of mail theft, possession of stolen property and conspiracy to commit a crime.

Ceres Police Department spokesman Lt. Chris Perry said that most of the stolen mail was returned.
