Transient arrested for drug possession
Ceres Cop Car

A man who was wrapped up and loitering on the sidewalk in front of Ortiz Tires & Wheels was found with a substance resembling meth on Monday evening.

At 10:10 p.m. Officer Krandall Vandagriff spotted Michael Metcalf, 50, wrapped in a blanket and sleeping on the sidewalk. When he went to check on Metcalf's welfare the officer learned that he had two active warrants for his arrest, both for drug possession. A search produced a clear plastic baggie containing a white crystalized substance appearing to be methamphetamine from a pocket.

Metcalf stated he was sleeping on the sidewalk because he did not feel well while trying to walk to his mother's house across town. During questioning Metcalf stated the substance was in fact crystal methamphetamine and that he had found it on the ground.

Metcalf was arrested and booked into the County Jail on the warrants along with possession of a controlled substance.
