Transient jailed for warrants
Ceres Cop Car

Riding a bicycle in the dark with no headlights caused a Ceres police officer to take interest in 38-year-old transient Lance Sanchez on Sunday evening. Officer Justin Canatsy ended up arresting Sanchez because he had warrants and because he tried to run.

Canatsy was patrolling in the 900 block of Church Avenue off of Hatch Road at 10 p.m. when he spotted Sanchez in the dark riding the bike with no lights. Canatsy tried to stop him Sanchez who then fled. The officer caught up to the suspect. Warrants for his arrest had been issued in his name. He was also charged with resisting arrest.
