Two men riding in a car pulled over by a Ceres Police officer on Tuesday evening, August 19 were taken to jail on drug charges.
At approximately 9:13 p.m., Officer Kyle Hatcher was patrolling the area of Hatch Road near Stonum Road when he stopped the driver of a Chevrolet Malibu for committing violations of the California Vehicle Code. As Officer Hatcher conducted records checks on the three occupants, the driver, Gonzalo Palominos, 30, of Modesto ran from the car. Backup officers arrived to help locate Gonzalo nearby. Gonzalo was on probation and had a felony warrant related to drug charges.
During a search of the car, near where passenger Andrew Lewis, 31, of Modesto was seated, Officer Hatcher found various amounts of marijuana that were separately packaged. Lewis was found to be under the influence of alcohol and marijuana, unable to care for himself and was arrested.
Palominos was arrested for the felony warrant, resisting arrest and driving on a suspended license.
Lewis was arrested for possession of marijuana for sales and public intoxication.
Both were booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
