Technology helped Ceres Police to quickly recover a stolen vehicle and arrested two males believed responsible for the theft on Wednesday morning, July 24.

An Onstar employ called Ceres Police at 6:34 a.m., to advise they had tracked a stolen vehicle to the 3600 block of Wild Oak Drive and requested officers check to locate it.

Officer Jessica Graham located the Chevrolet Tahoe parked on the side of the road where two males, Steven Pierce, 20, of Ceres and a 17-year-old male, were putting gas it. Officer Graham located the keys and key fob to the Tahoe in a pocket on the teen, who claimed he had found the vehicle.

The owner of the vehicle was called to the scene and didn’t know either suspect and had not given them permission to take the Tahoe, adding they were in the process of moving and had misplaced its spare key.

Pierce was arrested for vehicle theft, possession of stolen property and a parole violation. The minor was arrested for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.
