A 37-year-old south Modesto man and a 17-year-old juvenile were both arrested for attempting to break into a home in the 1600 block of Cognac Way on Monday morning.

At 11:43 a.m., Officer Kiashira Ruiz was dispatched to the home after the homeowner reported seeing suspects through a security camera trying to gain access through the front door. When Officer Ruiz arrived, the suspect had already fled the area. The reporting party showed the video evidence of the incident, along with another incident on Dec. 4, appearing to be the same man with a teenager.

Officer Ruiz learned the suspects’ identities through a police database which led to their address in the 1500 block of Atlantic Drive in south Modesto where suspect Sammy Flores, 37, of Modesto was arrested. Police also arrested a 17-year-old male juvenile.

Flores was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for conspiracy to commit a crime, burglary and petty theft.

The minor was arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall for burglary, conspiracy to commit a crime and petty theft.
