Two 16-year-old boys from Santa Clara were booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on Wednesday morning, May 13, after one was caught trying to break into a home and the other circled the area in an awaiting car.

An alert citizen called 911 at 12:47 a.m. about a possible burglary in progress in the 3800 block of Kiwi Drive. An officer spotted a juvenile suspect in a back yard trying to get into the house. The teen took off running and jumping fences.

Officers also located a dark-colored Honda circling the area and determined that the pair was connected in their criminal intent.

After approximately 25 minutes, officers located the first suspect in 3100 block of Waynesboro Drive with the help of citizens who reported a person in their yard.

Police could not release the names of the suspects since they were minors. The boy found in the yard was charged with attempted burglary, conspiracy to commit a crime, resisting arrest and obstructing officers. The boy in the car was charged with attempted burglary, conspiracy to commit a crime, possession of narcotics and driving without a license.
