Two women arrested after crashing into Walmart parking lot tree

Two women in a Toyota sedan which crashed into a tree inside the Walmart parking lot were arrested Sunday morning on various charges.

The crash was reported at 8:24 a.m. Officer Eric Souza rolled to the scene and learned the driver and passenger had switched seats before it fled the scene.

Sgt. Bryan Ferreira located the Toyota traveling southbound on Mitchell Road approaching Whitmore Avenue and stopped it in the parking lot of Family Pizza, 2921. E. Whitmore Avenue. Officer Souza also arrived and spoke to driver Bethany Borges, 21, of Ceres, who had bloodshot and watery eyes, slurred speech and delayed response. She admitted smoking marijuana about five hours prior and taking depression and anxiety medication. She was booked for driving while intoxicated and driving on a suspended license. Borges said this is her second DUI in two years and that she was currently trying to get her license back.

The passenger who was admitted driving the vehicle during the Walmart crash and switched places with Borges was Sabrina Camarena, 20, of Ceres. She was cited for misdemeanor hit and run and being an unlicensed driver.
