WATERFORD MAN ARRESTED FOR DUI, EVADING POLICE
A 48-year-old Waterford man was arrested Sunday for DUI after he traveled some distance before he finally pulled over for a pursuing Ceres Police officer.
At approximately 1:27 a.m., Officer Gurinder “Gary” Singh was patrolling the area of Hatch and Boothe roads when he attempted to stop Daniel Rodgers in a Chevrolet Equinox for vehicle code violations. Rodgers continued and made several turns before stopping in the 3300 block of Matterhorn Way.
Due to Rodgers failing to stop initially, he was ordered from the vehicle and arrested. Officer Singh noticed Rodgers appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and initiated a DUI investigation. Rodgers was arrested for DUI and provided breath samples that were over the legal limit.
Rodgers was booked into the Public Safety Center on charges of DUI and evading police in a vehicle.
This was one of eight arrests made by Ceres Police during March 24-30.
NEWMAN MAN LIED ABOUT HIS IDENTITY
A 21-year-old Newman man was arrested during a Thursday car stop in Ceres, because he lied to the officer about his true identity and for violating the terms of his probation.
Officer Eric Souza was patrolling the area of Hackett Road near Central Avenue at approximately 3:19 a.m. when he stopped a Honda Accord for vehicle code violations. Officer Souza contacted the driver and when asked for his name, provided the name of a family member. Through the investigation, Officer Souza determined the driver’s name was Danny Moran, 21, of Newman. Moran was on probation and admitted that he thought he was wanted.
Moran was arrested for impersonation another and a probation violation and was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
