Monica Sapien, 48, of Ceres was arrested last week for commercial burglary after she started consuming food items from the shelves and drinking coffee and snagging a beer at the Herndon Road Chevron station before walking out.

Sapien walked in the store at 10:44 a.m. and committed the offenses as the clerk watched. She began walking out with the beer while failing to pay for it or any of the other items she consumed. Officer Kiashira Ruiz determined that Sapien had 11 cents with no other way to pay for the goods. Sapien was booked for commercial burglary and probation violation.
