A 48-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday evening, Sept. 10 following reports that she was attempting to light fires in an open field in the 1300 block of Mitchell Road.

At 6:56 p.m., Ceres Police Officer Jacob Henn found Corrine Benavidez and located several piles of burnt debris which were in close proximity to a field of dried brush and trees. Benavidez was arrested for arson and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
