Woman arrested in stolen car

Brandy Bates, 38, of Delhi, was arrested on Wednesday morning, Dec. 7 after Ceres police officer checked the license plate of a blue Chevy Impala she was in and learned that it was stolen.

Officer Justin Canatsy was driving in the area of River and Bystrum roads at 10:58 a.m. and stopped the Impala in the 700 block of River Road while he waited for additional officers to arrive. A high0-risk stop was conducted and Bates was detained.

Bates said she got the car from a friend and did not know it was stolen. The car's owner was contacted and took possession of her car. Bates was booked for possession of a stolen vehicle, violation of probation and two warrants.
