Woman helps self to private home

A 36-year-old woman was arrested Monday, March 5 after she broke into a home in the 3600 block of Crowslanding Road and helped herself to the shower and food.

At 6:23 p.m. Officer Eric Souza was dispatched to the home for a suspicious circumstance call. The resident returned home to find a stranger in the bathroom taking a shower. When Souza arrived, Crystal Reaves, 36, of Modesto, was in the driveway with wet hair and appearing delusional and rambling about things that did not make sense. Reaves was handcuffed.

The owner had been gone over five hours and found his front door locked with a chain lock from the inside and had to enter through the back door. Reaves was in the bathroom. She later told the homeowner that it was her friend's house.

Reaves helped herself to food in the house and had drank what was left of her children's milk. While it appeared Reaves went through drawers, nothing appeared to be missing.

Reaves said she had just been released from the Public Safety Center when an officer let her in the house through the back door with a key. She was booked for residential burglary.
