A 42-year-old Ceres woman was cited for DUI and turned over to her adult daughter after police found her passed out drunk behind the wheel of her Toyota Thursday evening.

At 9:46 p.m. police were notified that a car was stopped facing eastbound on Whitmore Avenue in the left turn lane onto Moffett with an unresponsive driver, Monica Serrano, 42, of Ceres.

Officer Kiashira Ruiz roused Serrano who reeked of alcohol. Serrano said she had only consumed one drink but later said she had three beers at a local brewery.

Serrano failed a Field Sobriety test and a breathalyzer noted her blood alcohol content was 0.17 percent, over double the legal limit for operating a motor vehicle. Serrano was arrested on suspicion of DUI and issued a citation.
