A historic $24.1 million investment is now underway to bring long-overdue infrastructure improvements to south Modesto. Local leaders, community members, and stakeholders gathered Oct. 16 to break ground in the Parklawn neighborhood, marking the beginning of a project that will deliver sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and lighting to residents who have gone without for decades.
By the end of 2026, all neighborhoods in the Parklawn area will have completed infrastructure.
“This is a milestone moment for south Modesto,” said District 5 Stanislaus County Supervisor Channce A. Condit. “For decades, our residents have been advocating for these improvements, and today we are honoring their persistence and dedication. This investment will finally provide the basic infrastructure every community deserves.”
The Parklawn project represents a collaborative effort between county officials and community advocates who have tirelessly fought for equitable investment. With construction now underway, south Modesto is set to see transformative change that will uplift families and strengthen neighborhoods for generations to come, said Condit.
Supervisor Condit added, “I want to sincerely thank our South Modesto community members whose voices laid the foundation for this progress. This project is proof of what can be achieved when we come together for the common good.”
