A fall from a second-story window at the Casa Grande apartment complex on Friday sent a five-year-old boy to the Valley Children's Hospital in Madera by air ambulance.

Police dispatchers were called at 8:35 a.m. after the boy fell approximately 12 feet and landed on the grass at the complex, located at 3100 Whitmore Avenue. The child fell through the window - its sill located six inches off of the floor in the bedroom - while chasing a dog and pressing against it. The two-foot wide by four-foot tall window was pulled up into an open position with the screen on and locked into place.

The child did not appear to have any visible injuries but faded in and out of consciousness. For these reasons the child was air lifted to the hospital.

Home with the child was his mother.

This is the second known incident at this apartment complex in which this has happened. Ceres Code Enforcement is looking into safety issues.
