Ceres family mourns loss of son to shooting
Bicycle collision

A suspect has been arrested in the April 16 Turlock shooting that took the life of a Ceres teenager as a grieving family deals with a tragedy.

The shooting took place before 7 p.m. and took the life of Amado “Dominic” Escobedo III, 19 of Ceres, who was found by Turlock Police fatally wounded in the road in the 700 block of Wayside Drive. Despite lifesaving measures, Escobedo was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Another teenager was hit multiple times in the arm and was rushed to a Modesto hospital, said Turlock Police spokeswoman Dominique Sanchez. His injuries were not life-threatening.

Turlock Police detectives determined that the three males knew one another and the shooting followed a brief altercation.

Police identified a 17-year-old Turlock boy as the one who fired the shots and found him in custody at the Stanislaus County Juvenile Detention Center where he was jailed for an unrelated case. Detectives rebooked the 17-year-old for murder and attempted murder charges. On the same day, a search warrant was conducted in the 1200 block of Pioneer Avenue, where detectives seized evidence related to the investigation, Sanchez said.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with victim’s family during this difficult time. We hope the arrest of the suspect starts to bring some sense of closure as they continue to mourn the loss of Dominic,” said Turlock Police Detective Kevin Blanc.
