The unemployment rate in Ceres was 8.5 percent during April so there are an estimated 1,800 residents who could benefit from showing up at the Community Job Fair set for Thursday, June 12.
The free event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ceres Community Center, 2701 Fourth Street, and is being sponsored by the Ceres Chamber of Commerce, city of Ceres and the state Employment Development Department (EDD).
A total of 40 booths are expected with representatives from industries in the area recruiting for prospective employees to apply.
Confirmed businesses/industries are: 911 Hazmat Cleanup, Addus Homecare, Black Oak Casino, BMO, Cal Fire, California Natural Products, Caltrans, Caregiver to You, Casey Logistics Inc., Ceres Adult School, California Highway Patrol, Comforcare, CVS Health, Department of Protective Services-DDS, Dhilon Healthcare Group, Direct Protection Security Inc., Express Professionals, Farmers Insurance, Fastenal, Federal Bureau of Prisons, Frito Lay-Pepsico, H.M. Clause, Goodwill Industries, Hughson Nut/OFI, Nestle, New York Life, Oak Valley Hospital District, Panda Restaurant Group, Reed Family Companies, Select Staffing, Snyder Mini Storage, Stanislaus County Human Relations, Stanislaus County Office of Education, Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office, Suave Dental, SupHerb, Sylvan Union School District, Teeples Plumbing & Drilling Inc., U.S. Navy, Frantz Nursery and Meyer CPR & First Aid.
Anyone interested in seeing what types of jobs need to be filled is invited to attend the event and “dress to impress” per the promotional flyer. Prospective job seekers should also bring their resume to hand over.
