Ceres Library hosts fun activities

All are invited to enjoy free programs at the Ceres Library, 2250 Magnolia St. in Ceres, this month, beginning with Wee Move and Play on Wednesdays, Aug. 2 and 16 at 11:30 a.m. This program features unstructured playtime for toddlers and preschoolers, during which they can enjoy movement and sensory play.

The library will host an all ages coloring and watercolor painting activity on Thursday, Aug 3 at 3:30 p.m. Participants may express their creativity by using the library's supply of coloring pages, markers, colored pencils, crayons and watercolor paints. This activity is sponsored by the Friends of the Ceres Library.

The library will host a LEGO Day at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 10. Children will have the opportunity to build LEGO creations that will then be displayed in the library. Children 4 and under are welcome to participate, however, they must have direct parental supervision. LEGO Day is sponsored by the Friends of the Ceres Library.

A drop-in knitting program will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays, Aug. 12 and 26. This program is designed for beginning knitters or those who need help with a current knitting project. Participants are welcome to bring their own knitting materials or use materials provided by the library.

Persons of all ages are invited to paint their own wooden exotic fish on a stick on Thursday, Aug. 17 at 3:30 p.m. The library will provide the paint and wooden fish "sticks." The finished craft can be used as a puppet or décor for a plant or garden. Children five and under are welcome to participate with direct parental supervision.

The Ceres Library Book Club will meet at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 23.This month, the book club will discuss "The 101 Most Influential People Who Never Lived" by Allan Lazar, Dan Karlan, and Jeremy Salter. The Ceres Library has a limited number of copies available for checkout. Please visit the circulation desk to reserve a copy.

Children will have a chance to engage with their peers in a team effort to build a marble run at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 24. When it's built, children can enjoy racing marbles.

Persons of all ages can make their own decorative buttons at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 31. A variety of images will be provided for use in making these unique pins. Participants are welcome to bring their own images, however crafters are encouraged to call the library at 537-8938 for specific image dimensions.
