Ceres motorcyclist dies in Fresno freeway crash

A 29-year-old Ceres man was killed Friday evening when his motorcycle hit something in the road and he was ejected.

The name of the victim was not available.

The Fresno area California Highway Patrol office said the crash occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m.

The Ceres man was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound in the number 1 lane of Highway 99 just north of Shaw Avenue when he failed to see an obstruction in the roadway directly in his path and struck it and losing control. The rider in the number 3 lane and was struck by a 2017 Toyota Corolla, driven by a 28-year-old female.

The Ceres man was taken to Community Regional Medical Center of Fresno where he later died from his injuries.

The driver of the Toyota did not sustain injuries.

The CHP is continuing to investigate the crash and determine if alcohol or drugs were a factor, pending toxicology results.
