Ceres Rotarians honor Vizcarra, Armas
• Club honors two students on Friday

The Ceres Rotary Club honored Janelle Vizcarra (holding plaque) as “Student of the Month” on Friday. The Ceres Rotary Club honored two “Students of the Month” at its Friday meeting held at the Ceres Community Center.

The two were Janelle Vizcarra, who is a senior at Endeavor Alternative Center; and Central Valley High School senior Natalia Armas.   


Janelle Vizcarra

Janelle Vizcarra is considered a standout student who is known for her strong commitment to excellence in scholarship, citizenship, and volunteering. She has made significant contributions to the community by actively participating in the painting of a local park, showcasing her artistic talents and enhancing public spaces.

Janelle excels in the Endeavor independent study program and diligently attends the Argus graphic design class elective, demonstrating her drive for self-directed learning and creative expression.

In addition to her community and academic involvement, Janelle’s exemplary behavior and respectful interactions at school highlight her understanding of the importance of fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.

Overall, Janelle’s commitment to excellence sets her apart as a well-rounded student. 

Janelle serves as a role model for her peers, embodying the values of leadership and citizenship in all aspects of her academic and community engagement.


Natalia Armas off to Yale

Natalia Armas Perez is an exemplary student at Central Valley High School whose dedication to academic excellence, community service, and personal growth truly sets her apart.

Natalia has been accepted into Yale University where she plans to earn a degree in Political Science or International Relations. She hopes to become a law professor.

She is deeply committed to serving the community and has dedicated time volunteering at Doctors Medical Center, the California Commission on the Status of Women and Children, and with the EDGE Youth Leadership program.

On campus, Natalia has been an active four-year member of Leadership and has served as the Class of 2024 president for two years before taking on the responsibilities of student development as Culture Commissioner. She is the current ASB Student Board representative on the Ceres Unified School Board. She has been a track and field athlete for four years, taking on the volunteer coaching and team management responsibilities as a junior.

Natalia started the Health and Medicine Club at CVHS as a junior. She has served since as president, facilitating meetings and organizing career speakers to increase resources for students interested in the medical field.

An active member of the Student Educator Program for the past four years, Natalia was an intern at Kaiser Permanente, TurnUp Activism and the student-led diversity Inlight Magazine.

Despite her busy schedule, Natalia has a personal goal of writing a fantasy novel or book of poetry.
