Ceres Rotarians seek readers from the community for March 11Read-In

The Ceres Rotary Club invites community members to participate in the 25th annual Ceres Rotary Read-In on Friday, March 11. Community members, business groups, church groups, educators, and Rotarians participate in this annual activity to promote literacy.

Since 1991, hundreds of community members have participated in the annual Read-In, sharing the joy of reading and donating thousands of books to elementary school libraries in the Ceres Unified School District.

The students enjoy having readers from the community come to their classes. Readers visit two classrooms at a school where students are excited to hear a story and to learn about readers and how they use reading in their daily lives. After reading the story, the book is left with the teacher who adds it to the school library collection.

This year's Rotary Read-In is scheduled for Friday, March 11, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. To participate, contact a Ceres elementary school directly or contact Anne Snyder, District librarian by Jan. 29. Readers may purchase a book to read and donate or make a $20 donation to Ceres Rotary and a book will be purchased for them.

Members of Ceres Rotary hope you will be able to participate in this very worthwhile project on Friday, March 11. Working together we bring the joy of reading and gift of literacy to our students. If you have any questions, contact Anne Snyder, CUSD Librarian at 556-1500, ext. 1109 or asnyder@ceres.k12.ca.us.
