Ceres resident American Legion Post 491 member and veteran John Warren was so concerned about the condition and location of the flag pole at the Stanislaus County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services Center at 1904 Richland Avenue in Ceres that he took the matter to Supervisor Channce Condit.
Agreeing with Warren that a central flagpole was required by code on government property and of importance to veterans, Condit worked with county staff to accomplish the goal of a new one.
With the help County Facilities Manager Matt Innes, the new flagpole was installed last week at a flag raising ceremony attended by members Ceres American Legion Post 491 and Ceres VFW Post #10293.
“It is fitting that this is taking place during National Flag Week,” said Condit. “I want to the thank John Warren for bringing this issue to our attention, and for county staff’s responsiveness in installing a new flagpole on site so that our nation’s flag can properly be displayed.”
