City to host free Community Disposal Day event
Trash collection at park
The city will host another free Community Disposal Day on Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Ceres River Bluff Regional, 3761 E. Hatch Road. The event is exclusively for Ceres residential customers who can produce a recent utility bill.

The city of Ceres will offer a free Community Disposal Day on Saturday, Feb. 7 from 8 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the Ceres River Bluff Regional Park located at 3761 E. Hatch Rd.

This is the third annual free Community Disposal Day offering Ceres residential customers the free disposal of large household items, E-waste, mattresses and waste tires. Participants must be a city of Ceres utility customer and present their most recent utility bill and photo ID at the event entrance.

Accepted items include appliances, bulky items such as furniture, chairs, and tables, mattresses (limit four), car and pickup tires (limit seven and no large truck tires) with or without rims acceptable, and electronic waste such as computers and monitors, printers, etc. The event will NOT accept hazardous waste (such as paints, oils, treated lumber and other chemicals), green waste (such as leaves, pruning grass, brush and vegetation), concrete and demolition materials and household trash, including bag garbage.

Motorists must properly secure and cover all cargo loads with a tarp prior to driving. Transporting unsecured loads is unsafe, illegal and litters California roads and waterways. Loads that are not tied down or secured by tarps or nets or some solid enclosure will not be accepted.

Tips for securing loads:

• Completely cover loads with tarps or cargo nets as debris can escape from gaps.

• Remove loose material and trash before driving.

• Don’t overload; keep materials level within your truck bed.

• Put light items, lower and tie large items to the vehicle for traffic safety.

Please note no vehicle loads larger than a pickup truck will be accepted.
