Cynthia Young of Ceres is among 24 applicants desiring appointment to the Stanislaus County Civil Grand Jury for the 2025-26 fiscal year.

Stanislaus Superior Court Judge Sonny S. Sandhu will preside over the selection and swearing in of the 19 grand jurors at 8:30 a.m. in Department 24 on June 30.

The primary function of the Civil Grand Jury is to act as the public “watchdog” by investigating and reporting upon the affairs of local governmental agencies, including county and city government, special districts, and school districts.

Other applicants are:

Alice Gonzalez of Patterson; Jennifer Difuntorum of Riverbank; Andrew Ogilvie, Charles Castro. Christian Lehikainen, Daniel Freeman, Dorothy Martin, Eric Butnick, Ernie Garcia, James Sterling, Janet Kenworthy, John Herlihy, Kristen Hoagland, Nancy Berrens, Richard Baum, Thomas Anderson, Timothy Buchanan, Wende Feller and  William Chase, all of Modesto; Melissa Doerga and Michele Gordon, both Turlock; and Michael Eggener and  Scott Hicks, both of Oakdale.

Civil Grand Jury members serve for one fiscal year and are required to attend a two-day training session sponsored by the California Grand Jury Association, a not-for-profit educational organization. Training is set for July 10-11 in Modesto.
