The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office is hoping the public can offer valuable clues as to who shot and killed a Ceres man at a Halloween gathering in Empire.

The shooting left 32-year-old Juan Loaiza dead and two other men injured.

Sheriff’s investigators said shooting was reported at 12:27 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1 in the 100 block of A Street in Empire. Deputies found two victims with Loaiza’s wounds proving fatal.

Witnesses told investigators that during the party, they heard gunshots and people began fleeing the area. Deputies were unable to locate any suspects, and those responsible remain at large.

A third man appeared at a local hospital but is recovering.

Loaiza was a longtime construction worker and the father of an 8-year-old son. He reportedly went out to celebrate Halloween with friends when he was shot and killed.

The victim’s family, including his parents, Manuel and Michelle Loaiza, is also pleading with the community to share details that could help lead to the arrest of the shooter.

Lucero Loaiza, an older sibling, told Fox 40 News station: “We just want justice to be served. We’re going to keep sharing his face, his story, his name, until that day comes.”

Anyone with information related to the shooting is encouraged to contact Detective Wyatt at 209-525-7091 or submit anonymous tips to Stanislaus Area Crime Stoppers at 866-602-7463.

Other survivors include his children, Reanna and son Juan A. Loaiza Jr.; and siblings Manuel, Maria, and Lucero Loaiza.
